Local gardening clubs will feature booths at the Tulsa Garden Center’s Gardening InfoFair.
The Tulsa Garden Center is pleased to announce that the Gardening InfoFair, the ever-popular kick-off to the spring gardening season, will be held on February 20, 2016, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Gardening InfoFair is your opportunity to interact with like-minded gardeners and to learn more about the gardening affiliates that call Tulsa Garden Center home.
Tulsa Garden Center’s affiliated gardening clubs will be on hand to provide information and resources on specific plant topics and their individual organizations. The goal of the fair is to offer environmentally conscious and renewable resource gardening information to the public well in advance of the planting season. The public will learn how gardeners utilize plants to promote health and well-being. This will be a great time to investigate joining a club focused on your favorite plant. Retail nurseries, environmentalists, horticultural experts, landscape designers and educational institutions will also participate.
To provide even more information, there will be a two-part presentation. Karen Watkins, Linnaeus Gardener and Master Gardener, will give a lecture on the importance of pollinators to successful gardens and nature in general, and Joseph Schnetzer, consultant to Monarch Initiative of Tulsa, will present a PowerPoint program on the plight of Monarchs trying to survive in our over-developed environment. Their over-wintering habitat in Northern Mexico is constantly being reduced by logging and agricultural development. Gardeners need to be especially conscious of how we can help the Monarchs survive.
This presentation will be held in the Tulsa Garden Center Ballroom from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30`a.m. Call (918) 746-5125 or visit www.tulsagardencenter.com for enrollment details. There is no cost to attend this seminar; however, space is limited.
Spring planning is the critical first step to success. Learn where to site the garden, what the environmental resources your plants need are, and what the ongoing maintenance requirements are. Mark your calendar for February 20th to attend Gardening InfoFair at Tulsa Garden Center, 2435 South Peoria Ave. The event is free and open to the public.
