The 4th Annual Superhero Challenge is coming your way Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. This family-friendly event hosted by the Child Abuse Network (CAN)/Children’s Advocacy Center has something special planned for superheroes of all ages.

According to Rebecca Thompson, event co-chair, it was a no brainer to put this event together.

“The thought was simple,” she said. “We have an event for adults, why not have something for the entire family?”

Tulsa and the surrounding communities come out to support and build the event up to make it a huge success. Many organizations volunteer to build the obstacle courses to make it light and fun.

There are two obstacle courses set up to make sure everyone can join in the fun: a 1 mile course for runners 8 years and over and a 1/2 mile course for kids 7 years and under. Many families take part as a team and cheer each other on along the route. Different heats are ran at staggered times so the course does not get overloaded.

Co-chair, Jessica Zimmerman adds, “I love what CAN does for kids and families. All the funds raised come back and stay right here in Tulsa.”

CAN’s emphasis is on helping children bring out their inner superhero. They believe no matter what a child has gone through, there is something special inside bursting to get out and be seen.
This event is made possible thanks to many sponsors such as AAON, QuikTrip, Mazzio’s, ONEOK, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma,Tulsa Federal Credit Union, Cyntergy, Grant Thornton, Valley National Bank and others. You can get involved by volunteering as a traditional sponsor or as an obstacle sponsor. There are different levels and you can get more information about sponsorship online.

“We are looking for volunteers, registrants and donors. We encourage everyone to dress up and come join the fun,” says Brandi Moore, Community Relations for CAN.
The event will be held at POSTOAK Lodge and Retreat, located just fifteen minutes from downtown Tulsa at 5323 W 31st St N, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74127. Once on site you will find a Fun Zone for the kids with inflatables, face painting, popcorn, snow cones and plenty more. Event sponsors will have booths setup with information about special services and ways you can get involved.

Registration is $20.00 and open now until March 29, 2017. Don’t miss your chance to suit up and bring out your inner hero.
