Step into My Designer Fabric in Owasso and feel your creative self start to emerge. My Designer Fabric is filled with row upon row of beautiful fabric samples from names such as Candice Olson, Charles Faudree, Kravet & Duralee and Fabricut. That’s right, the same designer brands you’ve seen on popular home and garden television shows are available in Owasso at the corner of 76th Street and 129th East Avenue. From traditional florals and plaids to fun and funky patterns, My Designer Fabric has it all.

With a variety of materials from delicate sheers for dressing windows to sturdy weatherproof fabrics for outdoor furniture cushions, there are a variety of choices and prices that will appeal to your taste and budget. Whether you need to reupholster a single piece, pick up some material for accent pillows, or custom order furniture and window treatments for an entire house, the friendly ladies at My Designer Fabrics are ready to help.

Owner Robin Craig shared that she has long had a passion for fabrics and looked for a way to incorporate that into a business. She and husband Lynn moved to Owasso in 1999 from Tulsa, and Robin eventually left her job working at a designer fabric store in Tulsa to work in Owasso, at Surceé and The Perfect Choice.

Robin opened My Designer Fabric in April of this year and said she is really enjoying catching up with former customers she met while working at the home décor shops. “It’s been great. People come in that used to shop with me all the time, and now I can take them beyond accessories and help them really customize their homes.”

With the uncertain economy, Robin says more people are choosing to stay close to home and spend their money “feathering their nest” instead of taking big vacations. “When you invest in your home, you get to enjoy it every day and create an environment that others can enjoy as well,” she says. “It increases the value of a home to have custom window treatments, and you can get custom draperies in just a few weeks.”

My Designer Fabric offers high-end designer fabric that is not available anywhere else in the area. Custom upholstery, shutters, wood blinds, bedding and window treatments are available as well. “We are a full service design center – we can help you do it yourself or totally direct the project. We offer in-home design consultations, or you can shop at the store or our website.”

Custom furniture adds a finished look to any room, and Robin plans to add a display area soon. The choices in furniture and fabrics are seemingly endless, and My Designer Fabric can order from a huge list of suppliers. “If you see it in a magazine or on display somewhere, just let me know what it is and I can order it for you,” Robin says.

Robin loves the Owasso area and feels it is important to support the community by utilizing local  craftsmen. “The people who do my upholstery, painting, drapery hanging and wall papering are very professional and really take pride in their work. That’s very important to me when I am recommending someone to my customers.”

Wallpaper is getting ready to make a huge comeback, and there are gorgeous new colors ahead that haven’t been seen for a while. Decorating is cyclical, and the new patterns and color palettes are exciting. “Teals, gray-blues, purples, magentas and mauves are the new trend, paired with soothing, creamy tans and whites,” Robin says enthusiastically. “But this isn’t your grandmother’s mauve, this is more sophisticated and very beautiful.”  

Robin is joined in the store by Deniese Webb and Cheryl Conatzer, and all three ladies agree that having a plan for your home is the most important step. “Whether you are able to completely make over a room all at once, or do it in phases, doing things in the proper order will save you time and money. We are happy to help our customers accomplish their goals for their homes.”
