Advanced Cosmetic Medicine is in tune with the latest, most effective skincare products and technology. Because skin changes as people age, several treatments are now available to push age lines back to achieve a more youthful appearance. Juvederm, one of the latest treatments, is now available at Advanced Cosmetic Medicine, while another process, Radiesse, will be offered beginning this month.

Juvederm, labeled as a “next generation” procedure, is an injectible gel used as a dermal filler. The smoothness of the gel instantly restores skin’s volume. Juvederm is made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance in skin that gives hydration and volume. Aside from restoring youthfulness, the gel has been used for over two decades in eye surgeries and as an injectible treatment for arthritic joints.

Not only does Juvederm take away the aged appearance of skin, it is a fast, non-surgical procedure. Mallory Spoor-Baker, D.O., uses a fine needle during the treatment to minimize wrinkles, depressed areas or lips. Several benefits of Juvederm include a minimal recovery time and results that last at least six months.

Another treatment, Radiesse, is a synthetic, injectible, allergen-free implant. It is composed of calcium hydroxlapatite in a water-based gel and, similar to Juvederm, it causes little discomfort. Like all dermal fillers, it is not a permanent treatment, but it does have the greatest longevity rate, lasting an average of 12 to 15 months.

“We are seeing more and more versatility, effectiveness and safety in the dermal fillers that are available today,” says Dr. Mallory-Spoor Baker.

Radiesse is the newest non-surgical filler that allows patients to obtain contoured facial structures, most frequently in the cheekbones, nose and chin. Large areas of the face can be treated in one session. As with all skin procedures, maintenance and follow-up treatments are necessary to preserve the effects of the treatment.

In addition to newer treatments, Advanced Cosmetic Medicine offers the more familiar methods of anti-aging, such as Botox and Restylane. Botox has been one of the leading alternatives to plastic surgery, as significant results are seen after treatment. It can be used to treat wrinkles that have already occurred or as a preventative measure.

The introduction of Restylane has revolutionized the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane results typically last six months or, in some cases, longer. Lasting twice as long as collagen, it is an economical solution to banishing wrinkles, skin folds and facial lines.

Advanced Cosmetic Medicine patients are offered free consultations before any procedure. Dr. Spoor-Baker will help any client seeking anti-aging treatment to determine the best procedure for the specific needs and goals.
