Marketing manager Tammy Laakso points out the sturdy construction and details that go into every Lucas steel building.
From the humble beginnings as a hobby shop behind his home, Raymond Lucas’s business now has five separate divisions and has gained a reputation through the Midwest region for being the “go-to” place for quality metal products. Since 1968, Lucas Metal Works in Ochelata has not only fulfilled the needs of its customers, but recognized needs in other industries. Their diversified product line features steel buildings, roofing and panels, farm equipment, arena tools and custom metal work.
According to marketing manager Tammy Laakso, Lucas proudly produces strong, stylish, durable, high-quality buildings for ranch, farm, residential, commercial and mini-storage industries.
Professional assembly of a steel building is relatively quick and easy. Do-it-yourselfers can even set up smaller buildings themselves.
Steel buildings can withstand climactic changes. In Oklahoma the temperature can swing more than 100 degrees each year.
There are a variety of colors, sizes, shapes, windows and door placements available for all Lucas buildings. Each one is designed and manufactured not just at, but above, the industry standard. That’s the Lucas way of doing business.
Lucas also manufactures energy efficient metal roofing panels that are Energy Star rated. They use 26-gauge metal roofing panels, in addition to metal wall panels and metal trim. The company’s metal panels are UL rated for both fire and impact.
The Lucas farm equipment line features implements for farming, ranching and construction use. Each piece is designed to help make jobs easier. Their product line includes a disc mower caddy, scraper, hay bale unroller, pallet forks, hay spears, tree puller, rock bucket, and heavy duty grapples for carrying heavy items or hauling away debris.
Recognized as the most versatile tool for speed horses, rodeo producers, rodeo associations and arena owners, the famous Ground Hog Arena Tool flawlessly conditions ground surface in one pass. There is no need for rakes, harrows, discs and plows.
Lucas Metal Works also provides custom metal work, fabrications and repairs.
“All the people here care about doing the best possible job. They care about making our customers happy,” says Tammy. Founder and patriarch, Raymond Lucas, has now turned over the leadership to his grandson, J.R. Prather. J.R. demonstrates the same passion, drive and adherence to core principles that have made the Lucas brand a trusted name for 46 years. He is committed to providing industry-leading equipment, technology and employee training to forge the Lucas brand far into the future.
