Try Artefill for Longer-Lasting Results

BA Med Spa & Weight Loss Center is excited to announce that they are adding a ­revolutionary product to their menu in February. According to Malissa Spacek, managing ­partner, they will host an event on February 4 introducing Artefill, a dermal filler that reaches even beyond the ­excellent products already on the market. “What makes Artefill different from some of our other products is that it is long ­lasting,” says Malissa. “In fact, the improvement increases over the year after it is applied.”

Dermal fillers are most often used to fill in trouble areas, typically nasolabial folds, which run from the corners of the nose to the corners of the mouth, and marionette lines, which are like slashes from the corners of the mouth to the chin. Well-known dermal fillers include Juvéderm, Restylane, and Radiesse. Generally, dermal fillers are made up of materials including hyaluronic acid, calcium ­hydroxylapatite, and poly-L-lactic acid. BA Med Spa still offers dermal fillers ­containing these elements, as they provide ­effective, quality results for those who want to smooth out those areas of ­concern and maintain a more youthful appearance. However, the introduction of Artefill ­raises the bar a bit further when it comes to longevity, as it ­contains polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). The other materials mentioned gradually dissolve and are reabsorbed into the body, necessitating another ­treatment within a few months to two years. PMMA is made up of microspheres that do not degrade and thus will not ­reabsorb into the system. The result: a long-lasting wrinkle filler, requiring far less ­maintenance over time.

Malissa points out that while the initial cost of Artefill is a bit higher than some of the other options available at BA Med Spa, Artefill is less ­expensive in the longer term for those who need more extensive treatment and want a more ­permanent solution. “It really depends on the age of the patient and his or her goals,” says Malissa. She also points out that a downside to Artefill is that it cannot be used directly on the lips like some of the other ­products.
