Lisa Wolfe and members of the Wolfe Pack Taekwondo “Fight Like a Girl” team.
Wolfe Pack Taekwondo was founded in 2007 by the husband and wife team of Mike and Lisa Wolfe, both fourth degree black belts in taekwondo. The pair has been practicing taekwondo for 18 years and firmly believes in teaching life skills to students through the taekwondo tenets of courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and indomitable spirit. Wolfe Pack currently operates locations in Tulsa and Jenks, and the Tulsa location is gearing up for before and after school classes.
According to Lisa, “Classes improve fitness, coordination, power, and stamina through traditional taekwondo methods and techniques, and our students learn to defend themselves in real-life situations.” Wolfe Pack also provides sport competition training in Olympic style fighting and karate style fighting. Wolfe Pack promotes leadership and community spirit through demonstrations for local charities and events.
After school martial arts classes at the Tulsa location begin August 1 for pre-K through 6th grade. The Wolfe Pack bus will pick students up at Key, Grissom, and Discovery schools immediately after school, and classes will be conducted from 4 to 5 p.m. Students may attend from one to five days each week. Parental pick up is no later than 6 p.m. each evening. Students will be afforded a quiet time to read or do homework, and a healthy snack will be provided to each. The goal of the classes is for students to learn full taekwondo skills, plus the five tenets of character building. They will be encouraged to complete homework assignments prior to parental pick up and to be ready to spend evenings with family members.
Early morning Cage Fitness workouts are new and also begin August 1 at both Wolfe Pack locations. Cage Fitness sessions will commence at 6:30 a.m., with the programs targeting men and women between the ages of 18 and 45. Wolfe Pack Taekwondo is a licensed training center for this program, developed by Mr. Matt Hughes, nine-time UFC welter weight champion. Each workout will feature five 5-minute rounds stressing cardio, stretching and flexibility, and strength. Students will do a lot of pounding on 25 to 40 pound dummy bags while wearing UFC training gloves. “It’s a great way to get fit without getting hit,” says Lisa. The program is great for all fitness levels, with each student striving for a personal best each time they do a workout. Mike Wolfe will lead the Cage Fitness classes.
Only females are eligible to participate in Wolfe Pack’s Fight Like a Girl (FLAG) training program taught by Lisa Wolfe. Lisa says she is the only female in Oklahoma certified to teach FLAG. The program focuses on personal violence prevention including awareness, trusting your senses, and personal fitness. Her youngest student is 10, her oldest is 68. You must be at least 10 years old to participate in this program. Lisa offers demonstrations at schools, churches, and to other groups, and hosts field day events for schools each year.
World champion board breaker Cassandra Long trains at Wolfe Pack Taekwondo, and the Wolfes are extremely proud of her accomplishments. Cassandra has been a Wolfe Pack student for four years and will attend the University of Oklahoma this fall. Lisa and Mike were organizers of the AWPBA (All World Power Breaking Association) and each year host an Olympic-style tournament. “Everyone has a good time and earns what they deserve,” says Lisa.
Please contact Lisa or Mike Wolfe for complete details on Wolfe Pack’s before and after school programs, Cage Fitness training, FLAG, and martial arts classes. Both Wolfe Pack Taekwondo locations are open Monday through Saturday.
