It’s no news to those who have seen the houses popping up all over the countryside, but recent statistics have proven it: Rogers County is one of the fastest growing areas in the state of Oklahoma, and Claremore has become one of its most attractive towns for homebuyers. According to Sperling’s Best Places at www.bestplaces.net, a site devoted to analyzing data about people and places in order to help people choose the best places to live, Claremore’s population has increased 18 percent since 2000, and Rogers County has grown 23 percent in the same period of time. The same site notes that the cost of living is 10 percent below the national average – meaning your money goes a lot further in Rogers County, and this includes when you are buying a home.
These numbers are not surprising when one considers Rogers County’s positive aspects: easy commuting distance to Tulsa, beautiful setting, rich history, and a rapidly growing university in Claremore. Nevertheless, the numbers could have been higher had the nation not suffered a housing crash in 2007 and 2008. But local builder and developer, Brett Knapp of Quality Home Builders in Claremore, has observed an encouraging trend upwards recently in the local housing market. “In the past year, our business has picked up tremendously,” Knapp states, pointing out that he has recently purchased several properties in the city and county limits to keep up with demand. “People are making lateral moves, which means they are moving within the county, and we’ve sold properties to people who are relocating into the county as well,” he says. “If this is an indication of where Rogers County is going, we’re seeing a pretty aggressive, forward-moving market.”
Brett Knapp has been building in Rogers County for 25 years and also builds in several of the surrounding counties. Currently the president of the Rogers County Builders Association, he has been on the board of directors for over 20 years and has remained actively involved in the planning and organization of RCBA activities, including the Rogers County Home and Garden Farm and Ranch Show, held every spring in Claremore.
The commitment to planning and organization is what sets Quality Home Builders apart. Knapp is both a builder and developer, meaning he can help home buyers find a building site, set up the plans for their home, and then see the building project through to its completion. Knapp recently opened his newest subdivision, Woodland at Westin Park, a 25-lot subdivision featuring three-quarter acre lots with all utilities. Houses in Woodland at Westin Park range from $180,000 to $240,000, and there are three custom homes already sold in this subdivision. The model home is under construction and will feature granite countertops, arch details, a glamour bath, and hand-textured finishes.
Knapp still has nine lots and two houses available in Prairie Lake, a subdivision west of Claremore: a three bedroom, two bath, two car garage for $212,000 and another of that size at $222,000. Prairie Lake’s fully furnished model home can be viewed daily, or prospective buyers can call Knapp directly for a private showing.
