Ever wonder which Tulsa restaurant has the best chips and salsa? Come find out out, and support foster care in Tulsa at the same time! The third annual Salsa de Mayo is coming back to Tulsa on Sunday, May 22 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the UMAC, 6836 S. Mingo Rd. in Tulsa. The event will determine which restaurant has the best chips and salsa in town.
Roughly 20 restaurants will battle it out during a taste testing event in the Salsa Arena, with approximately 2,500 Tulsans being the judge. The winning restaurant will not only receive bragging rights, but also an award to display that they do indeed have the people’s choice for best chips and salsa in Tulsa for 2016. A few restaurants will also showcase a sampling of their signature dishes in the Tasting Room.
Participants to date include: Abuelo’s, Chuy’s, Monterey’s, Chimi’s, Bravos Mexican Grill Calaveras, Los Cabos, Taco Bueno, El Guapo, Freebirds!, Ted’s Café Escondido, Tacos El Pollo, La Mansion, Elote, Santa Fe Cattle Co, El Sombrero and El Super Taco.
While taste testing is a main attraction, this afternoon of family entertainment comes complete with piñatas, live music, salsa dance lessons, inflatables, face painting, a burrito eating contest and more. Salsa is a fundraising event benefiting TFI Family Connections.
Admission is only $5 per person, and children under age 5 are free. Tickets to the Tasting Room are $40 and include admission to the Salsa Arena. These can be purchased online.
