Do you need some extra money for holiday spending or for paying off your holiday shopping bills? Then plan your shopping by patronizing Claremore businesses for the 10th annual Santa Cash promotion, which kicks off at noon on Friday, November 9. The annual Claremore Chamber of Commerce’s promotion encourages people to “shop local” for the holiday season.

As in past years, two cash prizes will be awarded to Santa Cash shoppers, on Saturday, December 22 at 11 a.m. at the Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs Grandstands, east of Claremore on Highway 20. The grand prize winner will walk away with a check for $10,000, while the second-place ticketholder will receive a $2,500 check. However, participants must be present to win.

“A third drawing of $1,500 in cash does not require you to be present to win,” says Dell Davis, Claremore Chamber of Commerce executive director. The first ticket will be posted on Sunday, December 23 at the Chamber website and in the Claremore Daily Progress on Tuesday, December 25. If the Santa Cash ticket is not presented at the Chamber office for that particular week by Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the noon deadline, a new number will be posted. The final weekly ticket posting, if no winning ticket has been presented, will be on January 23 with a noon deadline on January 30 to claim the prize. “So even if you are out of town or unable to attend the ‘live’ drawing, you still have the opportunity to win $1,500,” Davis adds.

“The Santa Cash promotion is two-fold,” says Julie Adams-Simmons, committee chair. “It rewards shoppers and is a boost to local retail and service participants during the holiday season.”

Davis adds, “This is a tremendous opportunity to keep holiday sales in our community. Every dollar spent in our community can re-circulate up to seven times, not to mention the benefits of the sales tax dollars working in and for Claremore. Our tax dollars help pay for police, fire services and parks, just to name a few.”

Santa Claus sponsor, and host facility, is the Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs. Other sponsors include Suburban Chevrolet, Mrs. Claus sponsor; Tulsa Federal Credit Union, Candy Cane Ticket sponsor; RCB Bank, BancFirst, Grand Bank, TTCU The Credit Union, Wal-Mart and the Claremore Daily Progress, Reindeer sponsors.

Elves, or ticket locations in Claremore, include Atwoods, Carl’s Coney Island, Claremore Compounding Pharmacy, Claremore Daily Progress, Claremore Tire & Auto Repair, Claremore Chamber, BancFirst, El Maguey Restaurant, Factory Connection, Foutz Chiropractic, Health Center Pharmacy, Heatwave Tanning, Hinds Chiropractic, Grand Bank, J & J Pharmacy, Plum Gold Jewelers, Radio Shack, RCB Bank, Reasor’s, Robertson Tire, Rogers County Blue Star Mothers, Stillwater Milling, Suburban Chevrolet, TTCU The Credit Union, Tulsa Federal Credit Union, US Cellular, Urgent Care, Walgreen’s, Warehouse Market and Westlake Ace Hardware.

Will Rogers Downs and Wal-Mart are not ticket outlets. “They are sponsors but do not handle Santa Cash tickets,"Davis says. “Be sure to check our website, www.claremore.org, for the latest updates for additional activities being planned by our host the Cherokee Casino Will Rogers Downs on drawing day,” says Davis.
